Spotify and Warner Music Group have entered into a new distribution agreement aimed at "shaping the future of audiovisual streaming". According to Spotify, this will help to expand the catalog of audio and video content, as well as introduce new subscription levels.

Recently, Spotify signed a similar deal with Universal Music Group. This agreement mentioned a new Super Premium subscription that provides access to higher quality audio.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek said in a commentary to the latest financial report that a new, more expensive tariff will appear in 2025, and the company will actively look for ways to offer users a "new music experience."

The new agreement with Warner Music Group also introduces a direct licensing model with Warner Chappell Music, which Spotify says "builds on existing agreements between the companies" regarding royalty payments to artists.

As a reminder, Spotify pays artists less on average than other streaming services such as Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. Spotify's head of music communications Chris Makowski responded that the company optimizes its work for "higher overall payouts" and explains the higher rates for competitors' streaming by "low engagement" on services where subscribers "listen to less music."
