Nintendo says there will be no shortage of Switch 2 at launch

Nintendo is preparing to prevent a shortage of consoles at the launch of Switch 2, which will take place in 2025. The Verge writes about it referring to the Q&A session.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa notes that the company "runs the risk of producing so many consoles to meet demand." In 2017, during the launch of the Switch, the devices were quickly sold out, and the company faced a shortage of them in warehouses.

Furukawa noted that Nintendo would not disclose plans for the production of Switch 2 until the publication of the business plan for the next fiscal year, which begins in April. The Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to the new console will take place on April 2.

"As with the Nintendo Switch, we believe it will not be easy to rapidly increase production capacity, but based on our past experience, we will make preparations to respond as quickly as possible," says Furukawa.

It is also known that Nintendo does not plan to change the price of Switch "at the moment" but is not ready to announce it yet.

By the way, according to Nintendo's financial report, Switch sales exceeded 150 million units. Despite the decline in sales and lowered forecasts, the console still has a chance to break the record of the Nintendo DS, which sold 154 million units.
