We are talking about ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra. The main change in this generation is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset , which is complemented by up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The new processor promises 45% faster CPU performance, 40% faster GPU, and 40% improved NPU performance.
This improvement is especially important because additional ASUS features utilize AI. They work in two modes: Local and Cloud. Zenfone 12 Ultra is equipped with Meta's Llama 3 8B model, which runs on the device and is used for text summarization.
The AI Call Translator 2.0 feature also works locally and provides instant voice translation for the standard Phone app, as well as third-party messengers that support VoIP calls. The Recorder app now features AI Transcript 2.0, which can recognize multiple speakers, create text transcriptions, and translate recordings. It also has the ability to summarize articles and documents.
Also, Zenfone 12 Ultra has a main camera with a Sony Lytia-700 sensor instead of IMX890. The main update is the fourth-generation hybrid 6-axis stabilizer, which can correct movements up to ±5°, which is 66% better than the stabilization of the Zenfone 11 Ultra.
The 32MP telephoto camera also features optical stabilization. It supports 3x optical zoom and 10-30x HyperClarity zoom. Above it is an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120° viewing angle.
The front camera is equipped with a 32MP RGBW sensor and a 90° lens.
Zenfone 12 Ultra has a 6.78-inch Samsung E6 OLED display. This is an LTPO panel with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The screen brightness reaches 2500 nits, and it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The smartphone has a dual 5500 mAh battery. It supports wired charging up to 65 W and wireless charging up to 15 W. Wired charging allows you to charge the battery from 0% to 100% in 39 minutes.
Zenfone 12 Ultra remains one of the last smartphones on the market to retain the 3.5 mm headphone jack. In addition, the device supports Dirac Virtuo for Headphones technology, which works with both wired and wireless headphones. For headphone-free listening, stereo speakers with multi-magnetic design are provided.
As before, the device is IP68 certified, providing protection against dust and water.
ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra is already available in Europe, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The smartphone is available in three colors: Sage Green, Ebony Black and Sakura White. The price is 1099 euros.
