Amazon is preparing to introduce a new Alexa at the end of February
Amazon has sent out invitations to journalists for a presentation on February 26, 2025, where it will unveil an updated Alexa voice assistant with AI capabilities, Reuters reports.
The updated AI assistant will initially be available free of charge for a certain number of users, but Amazon is considering introducing a monthly subscription that will cost from $5 to $10. At the same time, the company will continue to offer the classic assistant, which is currently available to all users for free.
The company's executives are planning to hold a meeting on February 14 to make a final decision on how ready the updated assistant is.
Earlier, it was reported that the updated Alexa could use the technologies of the AI startup Anthropic, in which Amazon invested more than $8 billion. Thanks to this, the assistant will be able to memorize user preferences, provide recommendations for places and events, and offer several answers within a single conversation.
At the same time, the updated assistant will be compatible with existing Alexa hardware devices.
