The Sonos smart set-top box is codenamed Pinewood. According to The Verge, the novelty will have an inconspicuous black body, slightly thicker than a deck of cards, with a remote control included. The device will run on the Android operating system with the Sonos interface.
The set-top box will provide access to Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus and other streaming services in a single software environment with universal search support. The device will be equipped with Sonos Voice Control.
The Sonos set-top box will also act as an HDMI switcher and have HDMI ports with pass-through support. Users will be able to connect game consoles, soundbars, and other devices.
For Sonos users who have speakers but no soundbar, the set-top box will allow them to set up a surround sound system. It will also support Wi-Fi 7 and have gigabit Ethernet.
