Nintendo has once again lowered its annual net profit forecast amid falling sales of hardware and software for the Switch console. This is reported by Yahoo Finance.

Nintendo has revised its annual net profit forecast from 300 billion yen to 270 billion yen ($1.7 billion). For the first nine months of the year, Nintendo's net profit fell 42% to 237 billion yen, and sales fell 31% to 956 billion yen.

"Nintendo Switch hardware and software sales through the third quarter were below expectations," Nintendo comments.

The company also lowered its sales forecast for Switch consoles from 12.5 million units to 11 million units.

The company explains that in 2024, there were no high-profile releases on the platform that would have contributed to console sales, as was the case in 2023 with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

In January, Nintendo finally announced the long-awaited Switch 2. However, the company did not disclose any details of the new product, its price, or release date. It is only known that the full presentation of the device will take place on April 2, 2025.
