China initiates antitrust investigation against Google and adds 2 US companies to the list of unreliable
China has launched an antitrust investigation against Google. This happened immediately after additional US tariffs on Chinese goods came into effect. This was reported by Reuters.
In addition, China has also increased tariffs on some US goods, such as coal and oil. China's Ministry of Commerce announced that it has added PVH Corp, the holding company that owns the Calvin Klein brand, and the American biotechnology company Illumina to the list of unreliable companies.
These two companies took so-called "discriminatory measures against Chinese enterprises" and "harmed" the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
Separately, China's State Administration for Market Regulation said that Google is suspected of violating the country's antitrust laws and has launched an investigation against the company in accordance with the law.
Google's products are blocked in China, but the company still works with local partners in the advertising sector.
