X has filed lawsuits against more companies for advertising boycott

- 3 February, 01:00 PM

X Corp has added even more companies to the list of those it is suing for "systemic illegal boycott". This is reported by TecnChurch.

X first filed a lawsuit against the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and its initiative, the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), in August 2024. Shortly thereafter, the federation terminated the alliance.

The WFA wrote that "recent allegations, which unfortunately misrepresent its purpose and activities, have caused distraction and significantly depleted its resources and finances."

Now, X has expanded the list of defendants in the lawsuit to include companies such as Nestlé, Abbott Laboratories, Colgate, Lego, Pinterest, Tyson Foods, and Shell.

The complaint alleges that the WFA "organized a boycott of Twitter advertisers through GARM in order to force Twitter to comply with GARM's Brand Safety Standards." As a result, X's lawyers say, at least 18 advertisers affiliated with GARM stopped buying ads on Twitter in November-December 2022, and other advertisers "significantly" reduced their spending.
