Apple Vision Pro may get support for Sony PS VR2 controllers later this year

- 3 February, 06:50 PM

Apple and Sony continue to work on adding support for PS VR2 controllers for the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The announcement of support may take place during 2025, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

Gurman first talked about the collaboration between the two companies in December 2024. At that time, Apple and Sony had been working for several months to support VR controllers for PlayStation on the headset. The devices were even compatible, but they lacked optimization for the operating system.

Now, the insider says that the cooperation between the two companies continues. According to him, controller support may appear on Vision Pro later this year via a software update. Probably, PlayStation VR2 controllers will also become available for purchase separately from the Sony headset after the official announcement.

Gurman notes that such a move is unlikely to help Vision Pro sales, but it will show that Apple cares about gamers. Earlier, the headset received more than 2 thousand games thanks to NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming support.

As a reminder, Mezha previously reported on other details from Gurman's new report, including that Apple is not developing new augmented reality glasses for now and is preparing a new Confetti service to invite people to parties and other events.
