OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Gov, a special version of its chatbot for government agencies. The company claims that this tool will provide US government agencies with secure access to advanced OpenAI models, including GPT-4.
According to OpenAI, government agencies will be able to host ChatGPT Gov in their own Microsoft Azure cloud, which will simplify the management of security and privacy requirements. The company also claims that this will allow the use of OpenAI tools to process sensitive non-public data.
ChatGPT Gov will have a lot in common with the business version of ChatGPT Enterprise. Users will be able to save and share conversations in the workspace, create their own GPTs, and have access to an administrative console for IT teams.
OpenAI reported that it is also cooperating with the UK government to launch a chatbot for government agencies.
"By making our products available to the U.S. government, we aim to ensure AI serves the national interest and the public good, aligned with democratic values, while empowering policymakers to responsibly integrate these capabilities to deliver better services to the American people," OpenAI said in a statement.
By the way, according to OpenAI, since 2024, more than 90,000 users in more than 3,500 US federal, state, and local government agencies have sent more than 18 million messages to ChatGPT.
Last week, US President Donald Trump canceled Joe Biden's executive order on AI regulation. Also, OpenAI and Oracle jointly launched the Stargate initiative with investments of up to $500 billion, which aims to build modern data centers for processing artificial intelligence data.
