Atari has released a collection of new Asteroid Watch watches with a unique design dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Asteroids game. It was reported by The Verge.
The watch was created in collaboration with Nubeo, a manufacturer that has previously developed Space Invaders-style watches. Asteroid Watch is available in five colors: Nebula Blue, Plasma Pumpkin, Supernova Red, Nova Nightfall, and Celestial Citrine. The number of watches of each style is limited to 125 pieces.
The novelty is equipped with a Japanese automatic movement that drives three rotating disks. The smallest of them serves as the second hand, depicting a triangular spaceship in the center. The two larger disks represent asteroids, which serve as the hour and minute hands.
All graphic elements on the dial of the Asteroid Watch are made using Swiss Super-LumiNova pigments that glow in the dark, and are covered with a durable sapphire crystal lens and stainless steel case for added protection. The watch is water-resistant to 21 atmospheres and is equipped with a crown.
The Asteroid Watch model is sold exclusively in the US for $499. By the way, at the time of publication, the official websites of Nubeo and Atari indicate that the product is sold out.
