Team Ninja has announced that the role-playing action game Rise of the Ronin, which was released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on March 22, 2024, will be released on Steam, less than a year after its first release. The game will be available for PC players on March 11, 2025. Also, pre-orders are already open on Steam.
As is usually the case with PlayStation titles released on PC, Rise of the Ronin will receive many improvements: support for 8K resolution, DirectX 12 Ultimate, ultra-wide and super-wide monitors, 120 fps, ray tracing, 3D audio, keyboard and mouse controls, as well as support for AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution, NVIDIA DLSS, Reflex, and Intel XeSS technologies.
In addition, players who pre-order the game on Steam will receive the same bonuses as players who pre-ordered the game on PlayStation 5. Players will have early access to Iga's katana and ninja armor set, as well as four combat styles:
- Hayabusa-ryu style for katani.
- Hayabusa-ryu style for hilted weapons.
- Nio-ryu style for katana.
- Aisu Kage-ryu style for katana.
The Rise of the Ronin Steam page also immediately revealed the game's PC system requirements. The minimum requirements include Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 processors, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics cards, 16 GB of RAM, and 180 GB of free disk space.
The plot of Rise of the Ronin takes place in Japan in 1863, at a time when, after three centuries of Tokugawa shogunate rule, Western ships arrive to open the country to the world. In the aftermath of these events, which wreaked havoc with war, disease, and political intrigue, the unnamed protagonist embarks on a journey that will determine the future of Japan.
Players will be playing as a ronin paving their own path in an open world. The game features a system of variable solutions, and one of the main drivers of the plot will be the choice of one of three factions - "Opponents of the Shogunate", "Supporters of the Shogunate" or "Western Forces".
Players will not only be able to make choices in the story, but also create their own character, choosing weapons that best suit their playstyle. It will also be possible to develop individual tactics by combining different types of weapons according to the enemies. In addition to melee weapons, long-range weapons such as pistols and bows will be available in the game, which will add variety to the gameplay.
In addition, the game will allow you to freely explore the cities of Edo, Yokohama, and Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period at different times of the year. And for better exploration, the main character will be able to use a rope with a hook and a glider.
