Google is integrating Gemini into the Google Home smart home control app. The update has been tested for some time, but is now available to all users. This was reported by The Verge.
This will allow users to control devices connected to Google Home using natural language. For example, in a conversation with Gemini, you can say that the room is too bright, and the chatbot will understand this and dim the lights or close the smart blinds. You can also ask Gemini about the status of your devices when you're not at home, for example, if you left the lights on.
In addition, Google will provide the ability to control "non-sensitive" smart home devices, such as lighting, directly from the smartphone lock screen.
Other updates include the ability to adjust the volume, pause and resume media playback on smart speakers, displays and TVs through the Gemini app, as well as an updated thermostat control design that now matches the style of Google Home.
Traditionally for Google, the update will be rolled out gradually in the coming weeks.
