The popular phone number identification application Truecaller has received a real-time number identification feature on the iPhone. This was reported by TechCrunch.
The company was able to implement this feature thanks to a new iOS 18 feature called Live Caller ID Lookup, which allows third-party apps to securely redirect calls to their servers to obtain caller information.
By the way, Truecaller has more than 2.6 million paid subscribers, of which only about 750,000 are on iOS. However, 40% of Truecaller's revenue comes from iOS subscriptions.
The company has developed a new server architecture with a separate encrypted database for iOS using "homomorphic encryption." This allows the application to make encrypted requests to the server, which are processed in encrypted form and returned back to the client's device, where they are decrypted.
