The announcement of licensing the Meta Horizon operating system to other virtual reality headset manufacturers took place last spring, and even then Meta reported that several manufacturers were already working on their own VR headsets based on it. However, almost a year has passed since then, and no additional details have been made public. Well, the situation seems to be slowly changing - although there is still no official information, there are already rumors and leaks about at least one headset - from ASUS.

According to the information published by the Luna account on the X network, ASUS VR headset is codenamed Tarius, will be released under the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, and will most likely be the first headset based on Meta Horizon OS from a third-party manufacturer.

If the operating system does not have any differences from the original Meta Horizon OS, which runs Meta Quest headsets, this will mean not only similar features of ASUS Tarius, but, most likely, support for Meta games and applications.

As for the technical specifications, very little is known about them yet, but the available information suggests that the ASUS headset may look like the "Quest 3 Pro": the leak notes the presence of eye and face tracking and QD-LCD displays with local dimming (or micro-OLED) in the ASUS Tarius.

Of course, these are only rumors for now, but this account has already published true leaks about the Quest 3S headset, so it's worth listening to them and waiting for the official announcement, which we hope will not be long in coming.
