TikTok resumes its work in the United States after being blocked. The company thanked President-elect Trump for "providing the necessary clarity" for this. This was reported by The Verge.

Donald Trump announced that after his inauguration on January 20, 2025, he will sign an executive order that will extend the 90-day period for the sale of TikTok, allowing the platform to operate in the United States during this time. He also emphasized that companies that resume TikTok's operations before his decree comes into effect will not be held "liable."

TikTok's hosting provider, Oracle, along with its CDN partner, Akamai, restored the service, relying on Trump's promise.

However, Apple and Google have not yet supported Trump's initiative and have not returned the app to their digital stores. Probably, the companies are still not ready to risk violating the law banning TikTok, which provides for significant fines.

By the way, Trump said he would insist on selling the app, specifying that it could be done through a "a joint venture between the current owners and/or new owners whereby the U.S. gets a 50 percent ownership."
