After a challenging 2024, Intel is once again in the spotlight, this time due to rumors of a possible acquisition of the company. Potential interested parties include ARM, Qualcomm, and Elon Musk, who is reportedly involved in the negotiations, WCCFTech writes.
Research company SemiAccurate estimates the probability of Intel's sale to a third party at 90%. In addition, the SemiAnalysis analyst noted that Elon Musk and representatives of Global Foundries and Qualcomm are in Florida, where they are likely to negotiate plans for the chipmaker.
According to reports, the aforementioned companies, together with Elon Musk, allegedly held a meeting at the Mar-a-Lago estate owned by Donald Trump. Details of the possible negotiations remain unknown.
At the same time, Citibank analyst Christopher Daly said that the sale of Intel to Elon Musk would have a negative effect on the company.
"We view this as a poor outcome for Intel unless it was able to hire a CEO who would exit the merchant foundry business," analyst Danely wrote.
