The first trailer for Until Dawn movie adaptation has been released
Until Dawn was announced exactly one year ago, in January 2024. And now, it seems, on the occasion of the anniversary, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the first official trailer for the project.
The Until Dawn horror game is perhaps better suited than any other game for transferring to the big screen, as it is an interactive movie and has a perfect cinematic plot from the point of view of a movie adaptation.
Sony claims that the movie will "honor the legacy of the game," although it will have a completely new story and characters. The trailer shows us a typical teenage horror movie - however, the original source was exactly that, only interactive.
At the same time, the trailer makes clear allusions to Groundhog Day: it seems that the filmmakers are trying to realize the characters' ability to "replay" the same night in search of the best possible outcome, which can be considered the game's legacy.
Until Dawn is directed by David F. Sandberg (Shazam!, Don't Turn Off the Lights, Annabelle: Creation) and is due to be released in theaters this year, with no exact release date announced yet.
