Google has revised its Workspace Business and Enterprise subscriptions for business users. Previously, Google charged an additional $20+ per user for Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Meet, and other Workspace applications. Now, business users of Google Workspace will have full access to Gemini, but at an increased price, 9to5Google reports.
Google made these changes because they believe AI is "a fundamental change in the way work is done today" and that future productivity gains will result from this change. Thus, it makes no sense to separate AI into a separate subscription.
For existing customers, monthly subscription prices will be updated on March 17, 2025, or upon renewal of an annual subscription, whichever is later.
Google says that customers who have already been paying extra for Gemini will start paying less, and customers who have not used Gemini will not feel a significant increase in price.
For example, a customer using the Workspace Business Standard plan with the Gemini Business add-on used to pay $32 per user per month. Now, that same customer will pay $14 per user per month - $2 more than they were paying for Workspace without Gemini.
