Nintendo may unveil a new portable console, Nintendo Switch 2, as early as this week. The company is preparing a trailer that will focus on the hardware component of the device, and then, in late February or early March, a separate event will be held to talk about software and games. This was reported by VGC with reference to the Nate the Hate podcast.
The podcast mentioned a specific date - Thursday, January 16, 2025. The hosts also noted that no games would be shown at the console's presentation, only perhaps a demo game to accompany the presentation itself.
These messages are reminiscent of the way the company introduced the first Nintendo Switch. First, a trailer was released that focused entirely on the device itself, followed by a presentation focused on the console's software and games.
Podcasters also suggest that the new console could be launched in March or June 2025. This assumption was confirmed by VGC journalists who received similar information from their sources. In addition, a new version of Mario Kart and a new 3D Mario game may be presented along with the console, which is scheduled for release during the holiday season.
We remind you that at CES 2025, gaming accessories manufacturer Genki demonstrated a 3D model of the upcoming console. This allowed us to learn some details about the new Joy-Con controllers.
