Movano Health, known for its smart rings for health monitoring, has introduced the EvieAI chatbot. This assistant was trained exclusively on peer-reviewed medical sources. According to the company's CEO John Mastrototaro, more than 100 thousand medical records prepared by experts were used for training, The Verge reports.
The EvieAI model was trained exclusively on accredited sources recommended by a medical advisory board. These include scientific journals, clinical practices, and procedures approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to Mastrototaro, this allows the chatbot to provide correct answers in 99% of cases.
EvieAI ensures the accuracy of answers by analysing each user query and checking whether the information provided matches the data used in training. Movano also notes that a chatbot can refuse to answer a question if it does not have sufficient competence to provide a correct answer.
‘If you ask him: ‘What do you think about the elections?’, he won't answer. He won't say anything because he has no information on the matter,’ says Mastrototaro.
As with the Evie Ring, EvieAI will be available to communicate and provide clear and concise answers to health and wellness questions.
EvieAI does not make diagnoses, but rather guides users to the right steps. For example, if a user suspects they may have diabetes, the chatbot will ask about symptoms such as blurred vision, weight gain, or changes in diet. In case of serious problems, such as physical injuries or suicidal thoughts, EvieAI will immediately refer the user to an emergency room or hotline.
This chatbot helps to prepare for a visit to the doctor rather than making independent diagnoses. In addition, the model will be constantly updated with new peer-reviewed sources to improve the accuracy and quality of advice.
The EvieAI chatbot is already available in beta for Evie Ring owners in the branded app.
