Quest Pro, Meta's most expensive VR headset, has been discontinued, and the company suggests paying attention to Quest 3 instead, which offers ‘the best mixed reality experience and premium comfort’.

Meta warned about the discontinuation of its production, and at the same time the affordable model of the previous generation Quest 2, back in September last year, when it announced the Quest 3S budget VR headset. At the time, the company promised to sell the remaining Quest 2 and Pro ‘until the end of the year or until they run out, whichever comes first’ - and judging by the fact that sales have only just stopped, it hasn't managed to sell out the last Quest Pro.

The Quest Pro was released in 2022 and had an impressive price tag of $1,500. It was a premium VR headset that was the first on the market to offer colour pass-through, pancake lenses, and face and eye tracking. Its features far exceeded those of the company's other model at the time, the Quest 2, and offered a much better VR experience.

However, users did not appreciate its price, and a year later, Meta was forced to reduce the price of Quest Pro to $1,000. But this didn't save the day, and the company eventually introduced Quest 3, essentially a simplified and cheaper Pro version, which was a major success.

The release of Quest 3 further reduced the attractiveness of Quest Pro in the eyes of ordinary users, and the release of the budget Quest 3S finally knocked Quest 2 off the market - so the abandonment of these two models seems to be a logical step.
