The updated flagship gaming laptops from Dell's Alienware line, named Area-51, were also presented at CES 2025. These laptops are available in 16 and 18-inch sizes according to The Verge
The laptops are made from aluminum in a Liquid Teal color, which will have a distinctive sheen when exposed to light. Additionally, the Area-51 models feature many classic Alienware lighting elements, with RGB options for the logo, the rear part of the top case, the keyboard, the trackpad, and the fans. The fans even have a small window on the bottom covered by Gorilla Glass.
Зображення: The VergeFans of the latest Area-51 display versions may be disappointed: the laptops come with IPS displays with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, a refresh rate of 240 Hz and 300 Hz (depending on the diagonal), and a response time of 3 ms. There are no newer OLED options available.
However, these models are equipped with new processors up to Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards, up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM, and up to two terabytes of NVMe PCIe Gen5 storage. The updated cooling system, according to Alienware, provides a 37% greater airflow and is 15% quieter than last year's version in the X16 R2 model.
The advantage of the large chassis is also the ability to fit plenty of ports. Therefore, the new models feature three USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, two Thunderbolt 5, HDMI 2.1, 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet, a combined 3.5mm Jack, and an SD card reader.
The battery life is supported by a 96 Wh battery, but the manufacturer does not provide an estimated runtime.
As expected, the Alienware Area-51 laptops are quite heavy, with the 16-inch model weighing nearly 3.5 kg and the 18-inch model being over a kilogram heavier.
Custom configurations will be available for sale in the US by the end of the first quarter of 2025, starting at $3,199, while base versions with a price tag starting at $1,999 will be released later.
