Qualcomm has introduced the new budget chip Snapdragon X for Windows ARM computers. Laptops with this chip from various manufacturers will start at $600, according to The Verge.
The Snapdragon X is designed for regular and budget laptops, so its performance will be lower than that of the X Plus or X Elite models. However, Qualcomm promises better performance per watt compared to the Intel Core 5 120U, as well as improved battery life in various usage scenarios.
The Snapdragon X features an NPU with a performance of 45 TOPS, similar to the more expensive chips in this series. The Qualcomm Oryon processor has eight cores with a clock speed of up to 3 GHz and is built on the same 4nm process as other chips in the lineup.
Qualcomm states that over 60 laptops based on the Snapdragon X chip from various manufacturers are currently in development. Over 100 more are expected to be released by 2026.
