At the beginning of 2024, the game reached 6.48 million copies sold. By October of the previous year, the Resident Evil 4 remake had surpassed 8 million copies. In total, approximately 2.5 million copies were sold throughout 2024.
These results were achieved in less than two years since the release in March 2023. Currently, the most successful game in the series remains the Resident Evil 2 remake, which is close to 14 million copies sold.
At present, Resident Evil Village holds another record, being the fastest in the series to reach 10 million copies sold, achieving that milestone in just three years. However, with the success of Resident Evil 4, Village will likely hold that record for only a short time.
Additionally, last summer, Capcom officially confirmed that Resident Evil 9 is in development, with the project being led by Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshii Nakanishi.
