I thought that maybe people ACTUALLY do want me to make another game that's super similar to the first one, and I'm loving working on games again.
I don't super duper care exactly which game I make first (or even if I make more), but I do know…
The developer had previously mentioned that he was ready to return to the gaming industry. He founded the studio Bitshift Entertainment, within which he began developing a first-person roguelike dungeon-crawler.
However, on January 1, Persson stated that it wasn’t so important to him which project he worked on and conducted a poll where players could choose between developing a retro roguelike or the spiritual successor to Minecraft.

The new game I'm passionately working on is currently set to be a traditional roguelike (i.e. ADOM, nethack, etc) mixed with a tile based first person dungeon crawler (ie Legend of Grimrock (esp 2), Eye of the Beholder)
But…
Users unanimously chose the continuation of Minecraft. Of course, there are no details or even an estimated release date for the game yet. However, the developer mentions that the game will feature a lot of trees.
