The United States is working to support the development of domestic technology manufacturing, particularly in the semiconductor sector. TSMC, the global leader in chip manufacturing, will begin producing 4nm chips in Arizona in the second half of 2025. This was reported by Android Headlines.

The construction of the TSMC factory in Arizona was made possible by funding from the CHIPS program. The company plans to produce 20,000 wafers per month. Additionally, in 2028, TSMC plans to begin producing 2nm chips in the United States.

The products from this factory will be supplied to major companies such as Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Apple, and AMD. However, according to estimates, prices for chips produced in the U.S. will be 30% higher than those made in Taiwan. This is due to a shortage of essential materials needed for stable production in the U.S.

To ensure the economic efficiency of production, TSMC will need to invest in procuring these materials and creating specialized supply chains for chipsets that are currently lacking in the U.S.

Interestingly, it has been recently revealed that half of the employees at the TSMC factory in Arizona are specialists from Taiwan. This decision was made to ensure the timely completion of the project by bringing in experienced personnel.
