Samsung and Google have introduced a new affordable 3D audio technology called Eclipsa Audio, which will be supported on YouTube in Samsung's new TVs and soundbars, according to Android Authority.

Eclipsa Audio is set to compete with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. This technology will allow content creators to control audio parameters such as sound positioning, intensity, and spatial effects to create immersive 3D sound.

Samsung will integrate Eclipsa Audio into its 2025 TV lineup, ranging from the Crystal UHD series to the premium Neo QLED 8K flagship models.

The technology was developed by Samsung and Google as part of the Alliance of Open Media's Immersive Audio Model and Formats (IAMF) project. IAMF aims to simplify the process of creating surround sound through efficient encoding and flexible rendering, allowing audio to be adapted to different devices for playback.

The technology will be available exclusively on Samsung devices coming to market in 2025. Support has currently been announced for TVs and soundbars, but it may later extend to smartphones and tablets.

Google and Samsung are also working with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to develop a certification program for devices that can support Eclipsa Audio.
