Software developer and Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch has created a CAPTCHA based on the 1993 game Doom. Instead of the usual tasks like identifying traffic lights or buses, you can prove you're human by killing three demons. This was reported by Hackaday.

The Doom CAPTCHA is a web application based on WebAssembly, which runs low-level code directly in the browser. It uses the arrow keys and spacebar for control. It's worth noting that the developer chose the Nightmare difficulty level, making it quite challenging to prove you're not a robot.

This CAPTCHA could theoretically be implemented on any website. The question is whether it will find its place and where exactly.

It's also worth mentioning that running the 1993 Doom game has long been a popular hobby among developers. The game has been successfully launched on various devices, including lawnmowers, printers, Nintendo alarms, iPods, tractors, and even pregnancy tests.
