Starting December 27, 2024, Apple will officially discontinue the sale of iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE in European Union countries. This decision comes in response to the introduction of a law mandating Type-C as the universal charging port, reports MacRumors.
iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE will remain available in many countries around the world, including Ukraine. However, due to the presence of the Lightning port, these models will no longer be sold in EU countries.
Apple has already stopped selling these models in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and many other countries, as well as in states that share a market with the EU, such as Switzerland.
The EU law requiring manufacturers to equip devices with a Type-C port comes into effect on December 28. Due to this law, Apple has incorporated Type-C into iPhone 15 and iPhone 16. Creating separate versions of the iPhone 14 would be economically unfeasible, as the smartphone will only remain available for another year.
