Apple is developing an iPhone with a completely bezel-less display, but it is unlikely to be released anytime soon, according to the South Korean publication The Elec.
Apple initially planned to launch a bezel-less iPhone between 2025 and 2026, but due to production difficulties, the release date remains uncertain. The main challenge lies in the fact that current bezel-less display technologies do not meet the company’s requirements.
An insider reports that for a 2026 launch, Apple would need to have already finalized technical negotiations with panel manufacturers such as LG and Samsung. However, the company has not yet done so, making a 2026 release highly unlikely.
During bezel-less display production, companies still rely on two key technologies — thin film encapsulation (TFE) to protect OLED displays from damage, and optical clear adhesive (OCA) for bonding transparent films around curved edges. These technologies remain major obstacles.
