According to Kuo, Apple plans to equip the iPhone 18 with a wide-angle camera module featuring a variable aperture lens. This will allow users to mechanically adjust the aperture size. This advanced system will significantly enhance photography capabilities.
Contrary to previous reports suggesting the debut of this feature with the iPhone 17, Kuo emphasized that this camera update will be exclusive to the iPhone 18.
The report also mentions that Sunny Optical will become the primary supplier of the aperture mechanism, while Luxshare will provide additional support for the variable aperture lens. The assembly of the aperture blades will be carried out using equipment from BE Semiconductor Industries (BESI).
