According to Reuters, Stellantis has paused the production of electric vehicles for FIAT 500 and some Maserati models.

The report states that the production of the FIAT 500 EV was halted by the company at the beginning of December. The production lines at the Mirafiori plant will remain closed at least until January 20. This marks the second shutdown of the model this year, with the first occurring in September.

In addition to the FIAT 500 EV, production of two "low-volume sports car models from Maserati" will be paused until February 3. Although the specific models are not named, only two electric Maserati models are currently in production: GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore.

Production of vehicles in Italy, including passenger cars and vans, is expected to decline to fewer than 500,000 units this year, compared to 751,000 in 2023. This will mark the lowest level since 1958.

Stellantis, the owner of the FIAT and Maserati brands, has presented a plan to the Italian government to restore production, but noticeable results are expected no earlier than 2026. Therefore, the upcoming year is likely to remain challenging.
