According to Korean outlet ETNews, Samsung is significantly reducing its production plans for Galaxy foldable smartphones in 2025. Sales Galaxy Fold6 and Flip6 have failed to meet the company's expectations.
Since the launch of its first foldable devices, Samsung has steadily increased production volumes with each generation. The company had ambitious plans to sell more devices annually, and for a while, it worked. However, due to growing competition from other brands, Samsung’s foldable smartphone sales have begun to decline.
Samsung now plans to reduce production targets for the Galaxy Fold7 and Flip7 to about 5 million units — 3 million for the Flip and 2 million for the Fold. This is 3.2 million fewer than the sixth generation.
Samsung had expected around 10% growth with the sixth generation but failed to achieve this target. Initial pre-order volumes were lower, as were overall sales, though specific figures were not disclosed in the report.
Notably, Samsung isn’t the only company lowering its forecast for the foldable market in 2025. Analyst Ross Young says, that other foldable brands in China are also scaling back their plans.
