Disney announced that the total production cost for the two seasons of the Star Wars series Andor reached $645 million. $290.9 million has already been spent on the second season, although production is not yet complete. According to Forbes, this represents a record annual expenditure on a Star Wars project noted in Disney's public reporting. The series has surpassed the budget of every film in the new trilogy.
The budget for the second season of Andor will continue to grow, as $290.9 million had been spent as of November 22, 2023, before production was paused due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Filming resumed in January of this year, and in December, filming successfully concluded. The series is currently in post-production.
Andor is set five years before the original trilogy and serves as a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It follows the original films by utilizing many practical sets instead of green screens. The second season of the series will premiere on Disney+ in April 2025.
