According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is developing a smart home doorbell with Face ID support.
The device is currently in the early stages of development. It is expected that the new product will connect to a compatible lock, allowing users to unlock doors automatically using Face ID.
According to Gurman, the doorbell will likely work with third-party HomeKit locks, but Apple may also collaborate with other brands to offer an all-in-one solution.
Apple's doorbell will compete with Amazon's Ring and Google's Nest doorbell lineups. The device is expected to feature a proprietary Wi-Fi chip and a Secure Enclave for user data protection.
There is no release date for the product yet, but Gurman believes it won't be available until at least 2026.
