The MBUX voice assistant in Mercedes-Benz cars is being enhanced with advanced AI capabilities. Users will be able to get answers to any common questions using ChatGPT and Bing.
The new features will be powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, providing users with answers to common questions ranging from pop culture to geography, science, health, and history. The voice assistant will be able to communicate freely with users to get even more information.
Drivers and passengers of Mercedes cars will be able to activate the new voice assistant function by saying "Hey, Mercedes" or by pressing a special button on the steering wheel.
The system will store the conversation history for one hour, allowing users to ask additional clarifying questions about previous topics. The new feature will be available as a free upgrade for more than 3 million Mercedes vehicles equipped with MBUX.
Currently, the assistant only supports German and English, but users from other regions will be able to change the system language to access new features. Support for other languages will be added later.
