The Game Awards 2024 ceremony was held to recognize the best games of the year. Various projects were nominated for the Game of the Year title, including the indie game Balatro by a solo developer and the JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio. The nomination of Elden Ring DLC was particularly resonant: Shadow of the Erdtree, which caused a lot of discussion.
Astro Bot, an exclusive for PlayStation 5, was named Game of the Year. This victory emphasized that even in a modern industry dominated by deep dramatic plots and dark characters, there is still room for a bright and fun arcade game about a little robot. In addition to the main award, the game also won in the Best Director, Best Adventure Game, and Best Family Game categories.
Ukraine is represented in the list of nominees by the NAVI team from Counter-Strike 2. But S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl just didn't make it to the list this year, maybe next year.
