OpenAI has launched its artificial intelligence model for video generation, Sora. It is currently available only to ChatGPT Plus subscribers in the US and "most other countries". This was reported by The Verge.
ChatGPT Plus subscription holders can create up to 50 videos with a resolution of 720p and a duration of 5 seconds. ChatGPT Pro subscription for $200 per month allows you to generate up to 500 videos with a resolution of up to 1080p and a duration of up to 20 seconds. This more expensive subscription also allows you to upload watermarked videos and create up to five videos at once.
The company also draws attention to the "storyboard" function, which allows you to generate a video from a series of prompts and provides the ability to turn photos into videos.
OpenAI also demonstrated a "remix" tool that allows you to modify already generated videos using text prompts, as well as "mix" two videos into one.
The developers report that videos created with Sora will have watermarks and C2PA metadata indicating the use of AI in their creation.
By the way, if you don't have a ChatGPT subscription, you can watch a feed of videos generated by other users using Sora.
Recently, a group of Sora alpha testers published access keys to the model, so that anyone could generate a video within a few hours.
