TikTok has appealed to the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to suspend the law that forces the Chinese company ByteDance to sell the social network, otherwise it will be blocked. Thus, the company continues to look for ways to repeal the law, Bloomberg reports.

The company is requesting a stay of the decision so that it can be reviewed by the US Supreme Court. This will also allow the Trump administration, which will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025, the day after the potential blocking of the platform, to determine its position.

Donald Trump initially supported the blocking of the Chinese social network, but later began to oppose it. His administration may challenge the upcoming blocking and order a review by the Supreme Court.

On December 6, the US Federal Court of Appeals ruled that the law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok under the threat of a ban on the social network does not violate the First Amendment of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech. The Chinese company has until January 19 to sell the social network.
