Finding an answer to your question on Google or other search engines is becoming increasingly difficult due to AI and SEO-optimized articles. Previously, users often added the name of the Reddit platform to the end of their query to get more relevant results. Now the company has solved this problem with its own AI-powered search engine, which avoids unnecessary steps.

The new feature is called Reddit Answers. Users of the platform will be able to get answers to their questions in a conversational format. The system will create a summary of the topic from various posts and comments and leave links to the sources of answers. Users will also be able to go directly to the relevant post or discussion to learn more about a particular topic.

The new feature will work in the format of a chatbot and will allow you to ask clarifying questions and continue to receive answers on various topics. However, for now, the new feature is only available to some users in the United States and only in English. The company says it intends to expand Reddit Answers to support more languages and countries in the future.

In its blog post, the company does not provide details on the functioning of the new feature, but in a comment for TechCrunch, it notes that it uses its own artificial intelligence models. In addition, OpenAI and Google Cloud models are involved in the new AI search.

The information that Reddit wants to introduce artificial intelligence-based search appeared in the summer of 2024. CEO Steve Huffman noted that such a feature could potentially help increase revenues.

By the way, Reddit has become profitable for the first time in 19 years, in part due to the fact that companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft have to pay to use these platforms.
