Apple and Sony are working together to add support for PlayStation VR2 controllers to the Vision Pro headset. This was reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

Currently, PS VR2 controllers are not sold separately, but after the official announcement of the cooperation between the companies, they will appear in Apple stores.

The development has been going on for several months. Gurman notes that PS5 and Xbox controllers are already compatible with Vision Pro, but they are not optimized for virtual reality. They lack the six degrees of freedom (6DOF) required for precise control in VR games.

Apple has also begun to negotiate with game developers to add support for Vision Pro and release new games for the headset.

In addition to gaming, the controllers will improve productivity and media editing in visionOS. PS VR2 analog sticks will simplify system navigation, and buttons will replace gesture controls.

By the way, according to Gurman, Apple is dissatisfied with the sales of the $3500 headset, which did not reach 500,000 units. Therefore, the company plans to improve the situation by entering the video game market. The official date of the cooperation announcement is currently unknown.
