OpenAI has agreed to cooperate with the American defense startup Anduril in the field of drone defense. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
OpenAI still does not allow its technology to be used for offensive weapons. The company will provide artificial intelligence capabilities exclusively for integration into the software of anti-drone systems.
Anduril systems detect, assess and track unmanned aerial vehicles. If a threatening drone is detected, the military can use electronic jamming, its own drones, and other means to destroy it.
The company notes that OpenAI's artificial intelligence will help improve the accuracy and speed of drone detection and response, reducing risks to people and protected objects.
The startup Anduril is valued at $14 billion. Last month, the company announced a $200 million contract to provide its drone countermeasures system to the US Marine Corps.
