Google Maps will now provide information about possible accidents and other events during navigation, as well as allow users to leave comments and make corrections regarding the accuracy of these incidents. This was reported by The Verge.
Google first announced this feature in July 2024. At the time, the company said that the two apps would share more data, allowing Google Maps to get more information from Waze, including data on road closures, repairs, speed cameras, and police presence.
Last week, a Reddit user shared a screenshot of the new feature. He received a notification that other Waze users had reported police on the road ahead. The screenshot also shows that the user can check and update the information about the presence of the patrol himself.
Right now, only a few users are starting to see the new traffic information. However, Google stated that the release was supposed to take place in September 2024, so more and more users may start noticing these changes in the near future.
