According to a study by Originality AI, a company that specializes in detecting texts created by artificial intelligence, more than 54% of long English-language posts on LinkedIn show signs of AI generation, WIRED reports.
Originality AI analyzed 8,795 public posts on LinkedIn, each of which had more than 100 words and was published between January 2018 and October 2024. A significant increase in the use of text generation tools was observed in early 2023.
“The uptick happened when ChatGPT came out,” says Originality CEO Jon Gillham.

But LinkedIn users who spoke to the publication say that they rely more on universal large language models to write posts rather than trying to use specialized tools.
Some non-native English speakers have told WIRED that they use AI tools to improve texts, correct grammar and style. This can be perceived as creating texts with the help of AI.
“There’s definitely a lot of dislike for content that is blatantly AI-written,” says Rakan Brahedni, a LinkedIn blogger and the founder of a technology advisory firm. “Personally, I think it all boils down to quality. If it’s a good read, I don’t think people are bothered much.”
LinkedIn can be an ideal environment for experimenting with AI texts. The platform is not associated with deep content or emotionality, but rather with user-friendly, neutral, and professional images, which encourages the use of artificial intelligence to create such safe and formal posts.
