The company is already testing prototypes of eSIM-only devices, including the new iPhone 17 Air model, which will replace the iPhone 17 Plus.
By the way, when the iPhone 14 series was released in 2022, Apple touted the eSIM as more secure than a physical SIM card because it cannot be removed from a lost or stolen iPhone. In addition, the iPhone can manage at least eight eSIMs at the same time. This eliminates the need to obtain, carry, and change physical SIM cards while traveling.
