Bloomberg insider and journalist Mark Gurman has published a new Power On report, in which he says that Apple is not planning any major updates to the AirPods Max.
The manufacturer has only recently released a USB-C version of the headphones and is not going to improve other characteristics of the device. According to Gurman, the headphones are not popular enough to justify investing in development, but they also haven't suffered a major failure that would completely destroy the product. People still continue to buy AirPods Max despite its outdated features.
Gurman believes that Apple will keep the AirPods Max in their current form. It may take several years before we see a truly updated model.
As a reminder, Apple introduced AirPods Max in December 2020 for $549 and left them unchanged for almost four years. Later, in September 2024, we received a version with USB-C and new colors. Unfortunately, the model never received a new chip and support for adaptive audio.
