Google recently revealed that it plans to release Android 16 earlier than usual. Now, thanks to our colleagues at Android Headlines, the exact release date of the system has been revealed.
According to the leak, Google will release Android 16 on June 3, 2025. It is not only about the system code for the Android Open Source Project, but also about the deployment of OTAs for Pixel smartphones. For comparison, this year's AOSP release was a month earlier than the OTA update.
The main reason for releasing a new version of Android earlier is to ensure that more smartphones can be launched with it on board. This obviously applies to the Pixel 10 line, which, if history repeats itself in 2024, will be introduced in August 2025, as well as probably Samsung's next foldable smartphones. They are scheduled to launch in July.
