Google has revealed the release dates of the new Android 16 operating system.
Google plans to announce the operating system in the second quarter of 2025. That is, between April and June. For comparison, the Android 15 operating system debuted in October 2024.
Google says it is doing this "to better align with device launch schedules" in the Android ecosystem.
By the way, this year's Pixel 9 lineup was launched in August with Android 14 on board, although Google was already working on Android 15. If the company manages to release Android 16 by the end of June 2025, Pixel 10 devices will be on the market with it from day one, as will Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphones, which are due to be officially unveiled in July 2025.
By the way, Google also says it plans another Android release in the second half of 2025, but it will be a minor update. It might be Android 16.1.
