New features based on Gemini artificial intelligence will be added to Google Maps. Android and iOS users in the US will be the first to receive the update.
Gemini will now be able to suggest places and establishments to visit. Users will be able to specify details in a live conversation with the app. For example, whether the place is quiet or has outdoor seating. Gemini will also be able to analyze the reviews of the establishment and give it a brief description.
Drivers will now be able to "Add Stops" to include attractions, scenic stops, and places to eat along the route. During navigation, the maps will also show lanes, pedestrian crossings, and road signs more clearly, and will also tell you which lane you need to stay in to make the exit.
In addition, Immersive View will be available in 150 new cities around the world. Immersive View is an advanced mode of Google Earth 3D that allows you to see what stadiums, parks, and routes look like with the appropriate weather and traffic conditions for the selected time of day and location.
Immersive View for routes will be able to highlight difficult turns and suggest where to park. The update will start rolling out this week on Android and iOS in cities where the feature is already available.
